Marion Medical Mission's purpose is to share the love of Christ with the extreme poor in Africa. One way we do this is by providing a sustainable source of safe drinking water to rural African villages through our Shallow Well Program.

Our board met on February 12, 2011. The cost of a Shallow Well is $400.00. We are able to provide a well at this price because of the significant contributions made by the villagers. The villagers do what they can; making the brick and providing the sand, stone and unskilled labor. Marion Medical Mission provides only what they can't; the cement, pipe, the pump and skilled African labor.

Unsafe drinking water kills more children than malaria, TB and AIDS combined. For $400 you can provide a village of approximately 150 people (90 children) with a sustainable source of safe drinking water. Safe drinking water means life not death in a place where 80% of the children who die under the age of 5 die from water borne or sanitation related diseases. Safe drinking water means no more deaths due to cholera and dysentery. Safe drinking water means healthier people who can work longer in their fields producing more food resulting in less starvation.

Marion Medical Mission's impossible 2011 goal is to build 2,500 Shallow Wells that would provide an estimated 375,000 people (225,000 children) with potable water.

We have completed over 13,000 wells since 1990 providing a clean, safe and sustainable drinking water source for an estimated 2.4 million people.

100% of all designated donations go to their designated purposes.

100% of all undesignated donations go to the mission field in Africa without the cost of a stamp being deducted.
